Research Grants Scheme
Section 6(2A) of the Workers' Compensation (Dust Diseases) Act 1942 authorises the Dust Diseases Board to fund research into dust diseases. Applications for funding undergo a rigorous, competitive evaluation process with the final decisions on the award of grants made by a meeting of the members of the Board.

Call for Research Grant Applications
The Dust Diseases Board invites applications for funding of research projects commencing in 2012 in the following areas:
1. Innovative approaches to preventing occupational dust diseases
2. Developing/evaluating improved treatments for dust diseases
3. Developing/evaluating new treatments and services to improve the quality of life for workers suffering from dust diseases
4. Improved techniques for screening and diagnosis of dust disease and for assessing disability
5. Evaluating existing treatments and services for dust disease
6. Epidemiology of dust diseases

Successful applicants will be required to enter into a Funding Agreement with the DDB before grant payments commence.
The closing date for applications is 23 September 2011.
